Campaign Story
Hi!
I am Femme Appeal, also known as Kat Williams.
Yeah, that's my real name. That tells you how serious this campaign is folks.
The great news is that I've been awarded a Blogger's Scholarship to the 2017 Woodhull Sexual Health Summit!
The tricky news is I need some help with travel expenses beyond the stipend in the scholarship.
As some of you know, my health issues have caused financial problems in my household. Thus I am reaching out to the community online, hoping for some assistance. I am going to give you the simple tl;dr version first, but if you want to see the technical numbers I'll break them down a bit below.
1st deadline: I need to raise a minimum of $100 by July 11th.
2nd deadline: Hoping to raise about $500-600 by the day I leave, Wednesday, August 2nd.
Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated, from $5 to $100. Also if there's a specific reward you would consider donating for, tasks you'd like done or a piece of writing created, just let me know! Hell I'll write you a great dating site profile! You name it and I will be happy to discuss it.
If you'd like to view some of my stories and articles, you can find them on my website, at http://FemmeAppeal.me or visit my Medium page.
Also in lieu of donating, or in addition to it, you can check out my Ebay store and buy some items there. I have been going through my inventory, looking for choice morsels to sell, in order to raise the money I need. More items will be going up over the next few days. Regardless of whether this fund reaches $100 before the 11th, or I make $100 on my Ebay store, I am committing to attending the Summit.
Specific Details:
For those wondering why the jumps between the minimum I need and what I am hoping to raise - and the interest of full transparency - here are more details about the budgets I've been working on.
This campaign has two deadlines to it. I have to let the scholarship coordinator know by July 11th that I will be able to attend, or it will have to be passed off to someone else. It's important to me that I do not deny someone else the opportunity to go, because I accepted without having some assurance I can make the trip. But if I am able to share a room and eat nothing but sandwiches the entire way, I only need about $130 dollars over the stipend to be able to make the trip. So if I raise $100 by the 11th I will consider that enough progress to accept the scholarship.
The main campaign end date is the end of the trip, and overall I am hoping to raise enough to make the trip comfortable without scrounging too much, and to at least cover the hotel costs if I can't find a suitable roommate - among my other health issues is sleep apnea, so I snore and toss, which I felt obliged to put on my roomshare listing for the Summit.
Here are a breakdown of my costs. The room is $119 a night, so with fees and taxes I figure around $520 for the hotel stay. GasBuddy and I are estimating around $120 in gas costs. After the stipend that means I would need around $390 for the hotel and gas. And as I said, if I have to bring a cooler and a week's worth of sandwich stuff, so be it. :) But I am hoping to raise enough to be able to eat out a bit and not have to hide in my room during meals.
But those are ideal numbers. If I do find hotel roommate to split the room costs, and I eat only what I bring, I can make the whole trip work for just $130 over the stipend. And while it's a long shot, I have put an ad on Craigslist, looking for anyone who needs a ride from IL to VA, to split gas costs. I am detailing all of this because I want anyone who donates to know that I am not just asking for a free ride here. I am putting in the work to make this trip happen, whatever I have to do or sacrifice to accomplish it.
Thanks for your time, if you read all this 'fine print'.
