Help Feed the School Pupils of Suba Skills School in Rusinga Island-Kenya Pupils during this COVID-19 Pandemic. Theses Orphaned Children are back in school but their is a huge challenge to maintain them in school due to lack of food.
Every day, millions of children around the world go to school on an empty stomach—hunger affects their concentration and ability to learn. There are also millions of children—particularly girls—who simply do not go school because their families need them to help in the fields or perform domestic duties. In Rusinga Island, where children are twice as likely to be out of school than their peers in stable counties in Kenya more likely in the case of girls.
Poverty and deaths have landed most of our community children into dire need for education requirements such as school uniform, fees, and meals while they are in school.
Suba Skills School has a critical number of these needy children being solely founded by the founding director. Though cumbersome, the founder has tried within his ability to support this program and its fruits can be felt within the society.
Cuurently due to COVID-19, The shool faces a huge challenge to provide food and sanitary pads since all allong, the school has been relying on whell wishers to feed these orphaned students.
The school has been offering a daily school meal which is a strong incentive for families to consistently send their children to school. It allows children to focus on their studies rather than their stomachs and helps increase enrollment and attendance, promotes graduation rates and improves cognitive abilities.
With a total enrollment of 435 pupils, the school needs the following food stuffs for a term
1. 15 bags of Maize @ $450
2. 10 Bags of Beans @ $400
3. Vegetables and other food stuffs @ 150
