It’s the second time that I travel to Meknès, Morocco, from Switzerland, my home country. I’ve witnessed situations that are difficult to accept, and impossible to ignore. Children who beg for money, food, clothes, for themselves and for their parents. Families of four or more who don’t earn enough money to have a home and must sleep on the floor in a 10-square-meter room, of an apartment which they share with other families. Houses that collapse with families living in them, who have nowhere else to go, for lack of means. People who are sick and don’t have the money to seek and pay for a proper treatment and die of sometimes casual diseases. Families who live in unsanitary houses and apartments, but can’t move because they don’t have other possibilities.

A majority of the inhabitants of Meknes live below the poverty line. None have health insurance. There is no unemployment benefits. Prices of food and staple products go up every year. Most of the people I met earn less than 150 euros per month.

I help the people I meet as much as I can, but I cannot do it alone. The money I collect will be used to buy food, clothes, sheets, household appliances, etc, but will also pay home reparations
