The Zubin Foundation (“TZF”), is a non-profit organisation (registered charity in Hong Kong - IR 91/12344), which works to improve the lives of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong by reducing suffering and providing opportunities.
The Red Box project is initiated by TZF to tackle period poverty among ethnic minorities women in Hong Kong, especially those who belong to the low-income families.
Ethnic Minorities are one of the poorest communities in Hong Kong - approximately one in 4 live in poverty. The past few years have been incredibly challenging for many of them. With layoffs in airport-related jobs, construction, and catering sectors where most of these families work, they have been hit the hardest due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The children in these families are being asked to stop their further studies and try to find work to help support their families, with girls and women being the worst affected.
In TZF's 2020 period care survey, more than 65% of the ethnic minorities' girls in the survey stated that the financial burden on their families would be eased if they received free period products each month. This is exactly where the Red Box project comes in! Not only does the project finance free menstruation supplies for these girls, but it also addresses the issues related to period poverty, and provides care for girls' mental and physical health. The Foundation works with with LÜUNA Naturals, a period care company, that creates menstrual products which are free from toxins. LÜUNA Naturals has been selling healthy organic cotton pads, tampons and liners and donating period care items to the needy and vulnerable groups across Asia, including frontline medical workers and low income communities.
The Zubin Foundation has truly done a great deed to provide women and girls with support through their Red Box campaign.
HK$83 per month is enough for ONE RED BOX filled with organic period products from LÜUNA plus physical and mental health workshops. With HK$333, a girl could be supported on this project for four months!
Your donation will be greatly appreciated as it will help many underprivileged ethnic minority girls have a safe and assured period each month. Let's help make menstruation a basic human right by providing to those who do not have the resources to do so.
