Who we are and what we do:
The members of EnvironMatt's Circus Centripetus LOVE performing for the public and spreading the word about their art form called "poi", the Maori word for "ball on a cord". Spinning, as it is often referred to, is lovely to watch. Whether it be with glowsticks, flashing LED light sticks, or balls of fire, the patterns that emerge from the flow of the art can be mesmerizing. They make for beautiful photographs as well! We have performed at various local events such as First Fridays Downtown Florence, Four on the Floor, and Sounds of Downtown with the Lovelution, all for free.
Why this fundraiser, you ask?
The things we use can get expensive. It is recommended that you replace fire poi heads at least once a year. Some of the supplies we regularly purchase are fuel and lamp oil for the fire poi and batteries for the LED poi. The more costly things we need to obtain are proper safety gear (small extinguisher, fire blanket, kevlar protective wear), fuel/wick storage containers, equipment to create a proper fuel-up station, and lastly (but not least) fire performing insurance. For an idea of some of the things we're raising money for, please check out our Amazon Wish List.
How much should you donate?
Feel free to donate as much as you would like. As previously stated, we love to perform for you all! If you would like to continue to see us perform, funds are necessary for us to do so. We're not asking for any specific amount, as any amount given will be greatly appreciated.
