Help Emmett Get to Denver

The Short Version:

Over Labor Day weekend, I am relocating from Memphis to Denver to start my Master of Divinity at Iliff School of Theology. I am raising $1500 to help cover the cost of the move. These funds will go to the moving truck rental and other expenses.

The Long Version:

When I figured out I was trans and chose my name back in March, the plan was to take things slow. Well, you know what they say - man plans, and God laughs.

By the end of May, I was out to my immediate family, my church, and many of my close friends in Memphis. The joy and freedom of being myself in those spaces made it more difficult to remain closeted at work than I had expected. Teaching is already hard; trying to teach while also pretending to be a different version of myself became impossible. So I took a leap of faith at the beginning of June - I quit my job and officially came out on Facebook and all other areas of my life.

As I tried to figure out my next move and started job hunting, a number of different conversations had me thinking about seminary. It was an idea I had had at various points in my life, but never seriously considered for various reasons. I started doing research and got more and more excited about pursuing a theological education that I could then use to help LGBTQ+ Christians like me.

And now here I am - accepted to Iliff School of Theology's Master of Divinity program and about to move from my home of 9 years to a new city and a new adventure. But moving is expensive and I need some help to be able to hit the ground running when classes start on September 10. Anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.
