Wow! The deck will be beautiful when it is finished! They have practically rebuilt it from the bottom up! Take a look at some of these pictures and see for yourself!

The stairs will get built today or tomorrow. The railings and spindles should be finished today.

The septic tank was pumped. The men are excavating the old tank area with the Bobcat machine.

YAY! It's finished. We also put black mulch in the front flower bed. I still have to paint around the front door where the sidelights are.

The back of the house was in the worst shape. The power washing removed all the old, loose paint, but Brandon still had a lot of scraping to do.

The final spray will happen today to the lower part of the house.

So, this isn't fun. I don't know what type of material the front door was made of. It's not real wood. Not metal. Maybe some type of plastic? Yesterday, 10/12, the first coat of paint went on terrible. The paint hardly covered it. We decided to use Rust-oleum Gloss Black paint due to the "all surfaces" on the label. Here's the picture of the front door with the second coat of paint. While it does not look glossy in this photo, it is.

I discovered some drips today so figured I'd scuff them with the sanding block. Hoo boy! The paint peeled off like plastic. Not good. We'll see what the outcome is when the door is thoroughly dry.

The back door is metal, so the paint should have gone on okay, but it is all streaked. I'll see how the second coat goes on tomorrow. - Sigh -

Lola Jean photobombed the picture. You can see her through the storm door. Little minx!

These new pictures may look weird -- I took them while it was showering outside. The picture of the deck side of the house you can actually see the rain!

Brandon painted the remainder of the front, including the shutters. All that needs to be done for the front is paint the front door and add a second coat of paint to the lower windows.

The overhang protected the paint!

Attached are two pictures: the deck side of the house just painted yesterday (Sunday, October 6, 2019), and the front with the shutters and windows painted.

More to come...

Brandon White (my oldest son) drove four hours from his house in PA to my house (Catskill mountains, NY) after work on Friday. This is how he spent the weekend:

One side of the house has been painted. WOW! What a difference. The front is 80% finished.

The deck-side of the house and the back of the house are going to be power washed this week. Hopefully they will dry for paint this weekend. Praying for no rain so the paint can be applied and dried.

Wow! What a gem this machine is! George has finished the side of the house and is almost finished with the front. Brandon will be able to begin painting this weekend!
