In January this year, Elvira's eldest daughter bitterly succumbed to a gastrointestinal disease. The grieving process over her daughter whom she is very fond with, among other areas of emotional and spiritual crises, also took a significant toll on her health.

In March, her father-in-law, a revered minister, also passed due to old age. When they came to their province, after all the tragic events in her family, Elvira suffered a heat stroke which caused her to fall to the ground and was believed to have caused damage on her head. Initial medical diagnosis indicated that she had incurred a blood clot which caused half of her body (right portion) to be immovable. However, subsequently, the doctor advised that this was already a brain tumor.

She has been taking medications such as steroids in efforts to thin the blood clot in her brain and to minimize seizures. However, at this point, Elvira would need a medical operation to remove the tumor in her brain, as this medication is only temporary and can also cause side effects on her other internal organs (kidney and liver). In fact when seizures occur more frequently than usual, the couple don't have a choice but to go beyond the required dosage just to assuage the attacks.

The doctors quoted that a medical operation in her case would cost around Php300k ($6,000). Elvira's strength is declining, and we would need to raise this amount as soon as possible, so that we can arrange her medical operation immediately.

Other ways you can help:

1. This should actually be number one, but we really need effective prayers. If you have prayed, please send us a text message or FB message saying that you have prayed for her as emotional and spiritual encouragement is what Elvira craves for. We still believe that the healing that comes from God is the most effective. James 5:16 - "The effective prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much."

2. Physical visit. If you have the time, Elvira would very much appreciate a visit with not much -- just your positive attitude and the winning atmosphere that will encourage her that she can overcome this trial. She also loves to sing worship songs and hymns.

3. Groceries, etc. Elvira's savings have already been depleted and because of their situation, her husband Ricardo has to stay with her and couldn't find a living to make both ends meet.

Her own family, relatives, and friends from the ministry have been praying and battling with her, and we would count it as an act of kindness from our Lord that you extend your hearts, financial support, spiritual strength, and physical visits for Elvira's sake.

About Elvira:
Elvira (Adalid-Manongsong) is a very kind daughter to her mother (who passed the other year) who helped her gain her eyesight when she contracted cataract. Since then, her Mama Quiling started reading the Bible and newspapers in fine print with ease, even until her death due to old age. More than that, Elvira is a caring sister and relative even with her own large family. Whenever Elvira receives generous blessings from the Lord, she would not hesitate to kindly contribute to the church's ministries and initiatives requiring funds. She likewise would always think that whatever she has is worth to be shared to others, and many lives can attest to her generosity. We have therefore been praying most fervently that the Lord looks after her in her sickbed and show mercy on her.

Update from Last Visit - Sept 08

Update posted by Philip Guerero at 10:14 pm

I have had the chance to visit Auntie the other night to pray for her. Just an update on her condition, she has been taking a food supplement (which her husband took out on credit as this was expensive). For now, her head is starting to hurt. She could barely. . . . .
