My name is Hassan Ali, I live in Cairo, Egypt. I come from nothing and I had to work really hard to be where I am today, we had no money so I had to join governmental schools, which sucks in Egypt. I taught myself the English language at a very young age, and because we had no money I didn't know how to use a computer until my senior year at college when I was awarded a scholarship by the government.
Using only my English and computer skills I was able to land a job at a multinational call center, and then into lots of multinationals and banks.
I've worked as a manager and a consultant with some of the world's leading multinationals and tech startups (Maersk Line, The British Council in Egypt, Elves App, and Uber), and being in the market I got to see that none can land a job without a fluent English and some good computer skills, and I started a development center to teach English and Microsoft Office to college students who can't afford courses on their own!
My perspective has now changed because I see how technology is transforming everything around us, including jobs and skills needed, I know for a fact that most of today's jobs will disappear by a couple of years, and will be replaced with AI, and being illiterate will no longer mean being unable to read and write but rather unable to code!
I believe that coding is the future, and I'm trying to raise funds to start a coding academy here in Egypt and equip it with the machines needed for guys to learn. I aim at giving a chance to people who come from nothing like myself to make something out of their lives, learn technology and contribute to making the world a better place!
I will use the funds raised to rent a shared space, buy furniture, and PCs, and pay for the instructors.
Your contribution is highly appreciated, contributing to every cause is important but in my own POV I think that learning comes on top, because only by learning we can make the world better.
