Help Egyptian Team Go To Jean-Pictet 2021

We Lobna Diab, Aya Ghazy, Rawan ElBaga are 2020 graduates and final year student at the Faculty of Law, English section, Ain-shams University. Our team has been selected to participate in the 35th edition of Jean-Pictet Competition, 2021 at Durres, Albania from 3^rd April – 10^th April. This is the first time Egypt will be participating in this prestigious competition.

The criteria for selection was our knowledge of Public International Law, a statement of purpose and two core theoretical question which has to be answered as part of our application. Our application was reviewed by third member of the Committee of Jean Pictet Competition (CCJP).

Jean-Pictet is a training event in International Humanitarian law for Law students and others. Teams play the role of actors of armed conflicts (military, humanitarian, political officers, lawyers) in a context larger and richer than the sole judiciary context. The region of the Middle East is contaminated with armed conflicts, although it affects us and our neighboring countries significantly, most Egyptian law schools brush over IHL as a component of a broader international law course, which leaves students with no knowledge of its real-life application and professional career opportunities in the field. Given these glaring omissions in our curriculum and exposure, Pictet is an instinctively great choice for us to explore IHL and pursue our dream.

Additionally, we have been assured some concession on our registration fees, due to the quality of our answers and application, we were awarded with the Universality Fund by the competition’s Steering Group. However, we were left to bear significant monetary expenditure to cover the costs of the competition.

We have turned for help towards your philanthropy, as we seek financial assistance to cover the registration fees, flight tickets, and visa fees the breakup of which is given below:

Registration fee: €750 (14,000/- LE)

Visa fees: 4500/- LE (1500/-X3)

Flight tickets (Cairo to Durres round way): 21,000/- LE (7000/- X3 persons)

Transportation and Personal expenditure: 5,500

Total: 45,000 /- LE

Due to the lack of economic resources at our disposal, we do not possess the request means to support the entire budget. We are kindly seeking your financial assistance; any contribution will be in extreme significance to us.
