Literally AwakeMzansi! means "Wake Up South Africa!"

We need sponsorship to help educate young South African voters on how democracy works.

AwakeMzansi! is a dynamic & empowering News, Views & Debate Online Community/Hub for informed, inspired South African millennial voters aged between 18 and 30. We are active on Facebook and Twitter. Our primary platform is our Facebook community page where we have 144,000 fans and climbing. (facebook.com/awakemzansi)

So, what do we do?

AwakeMzansi! was formed in 2016 with the objective of awakening South African voters to the power and possibility of the vote they hold in their hands.

We are a Political Action Group (P.A.G) is focused on educating South African voters about the election process, the various political parties competing for their vote, the "promises" they make and their ability to deliver against those promises. Our key audience is the disaffected millennial generation who feel that it’s not worth the time and effort to vote. We want them to realize that if they wish to effect change in South Africa, their vote is the best possible means to do so. Violent protests, political violence and aggression are not long-term sustainable options if we wish to build a free, fair and safe South Africa.

AwakeMzansi! is about empowering South Africans with factual knowledge and informed insights - not propagandist campaigns of mass persuasion strategically designed to blind, deafen and dumb us down!

To this end one of our primary objectives is to fact check election statements and news (fake or otherwise), determine if a political party can really deliver against its manifesto, and communicate this to the voting public through a Facebook community page with substance and meaning.

We are not about:

- Political allegiance
- Tit-for-tat politics
- Lies and deception
- Campaigning today for no delivery tomorrow
- Racism

We are about:

- The truth
- A prospering free and fair South Africa for all
- Finding a solution
- Providing hope and that your vote can make a difference
- Giving people the power of information to make an informed decision
- Equality

How you can help:

Since we launched in 2016, AwakeMzansi! has relied on ad hoc donations from the odd sponsor, friends and family. We rely on this sponsorship to boost a few really important posts per month and also pay our Community Manager for their time. In the ramp-up to general or local elections we do a fund-raising drive to help us launch ads that are designed to dispel the fake narratives and various political party “fake news” claims.

How we will allocate the donations:

90% of your donation will be spent on ad budgets on Facebook & Instagram i.e. boosted posts to get reach and engagement. And 10% of your donation will be used to pay our Community Manager and other costs and fees. i.e. website fees, hosting etc.

Thank your for considering us for your donation and support!

Kind regards,

AwakeMzansi! team
