On 8-10-15 while driving to the grocery store I see this young thin red nose pitty with a cleft palate walking with this young man who is about my son's age. Its obvious they are homeless. They were heading to the same plaza where the grocery store is located. Sadly a lot of homeless people will pan handle there.

So I turned around and went home and filled up a ziploc bag with dog food grabbed a couple bottles of water a dog bowl a big bag of pretzels. Jeans and 3 t-shirts and socks and went back and sure enough he was there. I gave him the stuff I put together. He was very grateful. I also asked him if he was hungry he said he was starving. So I went and bought him some food from McDonalds and asked him what was his situation. He explained he and his dog are homeless and pointed to where they are sleeping and calling home. My heart sank... I said to myself Oh lord this could be my son and God forbid if that was ever to happen to my son I would be grateful for someone to help my child too.

I also asked him if he needed anything else for his dog or for himself ? He asked if he could have a pillow to sleep on, then pointed to the one by the broken recliner chair he was sleeping in. Well it was old and filthy to say the least. I told him I would bring him a pillow the next day. I pushed a little more and said seriously what else can I help you with. He said his dog could really use some flea medication. He said he was able to get enough money saved up and took his dog to a discount vet clinic a couple weeks back. He only had enough to take his dog for a shot and heartworm check and pill. So I ran up to the pet store and bought two month supply of flea medication. Went back and he was so happy for his dog and I helped him put it on his best buddy. Honestly Dylan cares so much for his dog. Actually takes better care of Elvis then some people I have seen who live in homes do. He seriously loves this dog so much you can tell. I told him stay safe and I will be back tomorrow to check on him.

I found out today he is waiting for a call from SSI for assistance. But sadly that call is not scheduled until October. Sadly that is not going to do much of anything in the meantime. He is still homeless and jobless. He also told me he still needs to go to SSD to fill out more paperwork. I offered to take him to do that and he agreed. I also made several phone calls to try and find Dylan a place to stay for a few days and I would see about trying to raise some funds to help him be able to do that. This is where you all come in, can you help in any way to make this young mans life a safer place. Just a step in the right direction would mean the world to him. Just for him to be able to take a shower and sleep in a bed and not worry about someone trying to hurt him or his dog. Sadly even after all the calls I made NO one was willing to help due to the fact he was homeless and his dog was a pittbull.

Today 8-12-15 I also spoke with a police officer who knows of the young man. The officer and I are going to work together to see what else we can do to try and find more help for him and try to get him off the streets. Sadly the biggest issue is his dog. Still no one was willing to let them stay at the local motels and there is no dogs allowed at the shelters. I have spoken to Dylan about letting me find temporary foster care for his dog Elvis but he just can not bring himself to do it. He said that Elvis saved him. There has been a lot of dark days and depression for Dylan and if it was not for Elvis he would of never made it this far. So I know for a fact he will not part with Elvis. He said they have to stay together, they just have to. He was not to willing to speak of his childhood much. He did say he ended up homeless due to a accident that took place a many months back. He was not able to pay his rent money and in turn lost the place he was living. He told me that his parents are not in his life.

Now on a different note. Due to a post on FB the other day a person donated a small pup tent for him to use. Dylan was so happy to have that you would of thought someone gave him a million dollars. Also there has been many people who have messaged me on facebook willing to donate and or send items for this young man and his dog.

The police officer is now going to try and see if we can get him and hopefully his dog too. Into one of the camp grounds up the street. I also had a call come in today willing to purchase him a larger tent. I said lets first see if we can get him into a camp ground. Sadly on the streets I am afraid someone might try to steel it from him or take it when he was not there. I am truly worried for this young man safety.

So I am asking as a mother and humanitarian if you can please help Dylan and Elvis get off the streets. I am trying to raise money for a safe place for him to live even if it is temporary. Praying to get them off the streets into a safe place to lay his head and a nice hot shower. I can tell he is embarrassed about his hygiene and does the best to cover it up and put on a happy face. Regardless I can still tell its embarrassing for him. He also told me he wants to find a job really bad and has been trying. But sadly again people judge a book by its cover. I did take him to a place today that was hiring but you have to apply online so I also will help him with that and see how it goes. Also we were able to find him a pair of eye glasses. So now he can read and see the words and peoples faces much clearer and again he was so happy for the glasses. Honestly this young man is really trying to do his best with what means he has and along with caring for his pet. I must say for a young man in his situation he really has a wonderful uplifting personality and is a child of faith and God.

Dylan also expressed he would really love a King James Bible. I posted about it on FB and a wonderful lady was more than happy to fill his wish. She will be mailing me one to give to Dylan. I cant wait to see the excitement in his eyes when I hand it to him. There was also another lady on FB who is a mother and could not imagine how hard and scary this must be for him. She reached out to see how she could help. So after speaking with her she is going to be sending me clothing and items for the young man as well.

Please if you can help Dylan and Elvis he would be forever grateful. Even if you cannot donate just keep them in your prayers to keep him safe and find the help he needs to have a second chance at starting to rebuild his life. I honestly have to say this young mans personality is a breath of fresh air. Regardless of his misfortune he is such a well mannered young man and so polite. Very appreciative for any help big or small. He also said to me he will tell me more about his life in time... BUT he made me promise I would not feel sorry for him. I in turn agreed with a smile while my heart sank.

I would like to THANK YOU ALL for taking the time to read Dylan's story. And if you can think of any way to help him or can donate big or small. Or even keep him and his buddy in your prayers so they can stay together. Dylan and Elvis would be forever grateful.

God Bless

Dylan and Elvis Presley needs a place to go so they can stay together and get off the streets

Update posted by Kathleen Scherrer at 02:55 am

I did speak with the officer late in the day 8-12-15 he did confirm that Dylan has no police records of concern on file except a trespassing citation. Which with being homeless that is pretty much the usual from what Mr. Jackson stated. Mr. Jackson told me he will be
