My daughter Jahne called me here in NZ ( 1:19 am Monday 21/11/2016 ) to tell me that she was watching her and Dylan's beloved narrowboat sink to the bottom of Regents Canal, as the fire department attempted to secure it.

[22/11/16 9:26:04 AM] jahne: // were in a hotel. really depressed

[22/11/16 9:26:11 AM] jahne: there’s no hope saving the boat.

[22/11/16 9:26:28 AM] jahne: i don’t know what to say. its so depressing

The sense of loss I feel for them is so immense. For the last 6 months every Skype message between myself, Jahne and Dylan you would hear sawing or hammering in the background. So many tearful conversations when Jahne would call me at the absolute end of her tether. Living in an uninsulated, run down narrowboat with no electricity, cooking facilities, running water or toilet, took its toll on them both physically and mentally. The small space, lack of comfort, and constant work became at times too much. However they would always pull themselves together with the positive attitude of keep calm and carry on.

Soon they started to see the rewards of all their work and creativity. Just by sheer hard work and the clever sourcing and salvaging of old thrown out bits and pieces they had created a home. Not only was it a home but it was also a work of art.

Jahne and Dylan are both hardworking artists. Building this boat was part of a bigger plan that they were pursuing with the talent and enthusiasm they are known for.

[22/11/16 4:21:02 PM] jahne: its surreal how fast it happened. it was horrible

[22/11/16 4:21:20 PM] Jet: i bet Dylan's guttered. all that work. just have to try to look forward

[22/11/16 4:21:26 PM] jahne: yeah

[22/11/16 4:21:41 PM] Jet: hard to say i know

[22/11/16 4:21:50 PM] jahne: thats all we can do. Aww it sucks we were right in centre london its so hard to be so close. we need to try get back in the boat tomorrow. its all up on its side and wade through the water try to save our things especially Ds tools, its on such a lean though, tied up by cables have to be careful inside that it doesn’t slide into the massive drop below it. kind of resting on a shelf. .well, it was !!!

They are trying be optimistic but they are without funds or belongings, and homeless in London. They are yet to discover the costs involved with securing and moving a capsized narrowboat from the Regents Canal, as well as the Fire Service attendance.

I am worried. Neither families are in a position to give any significant financial assistance.

So I reach out to you, my fellow human being, to pledge a little to help Jahne and Dylan get through this. Any help is appreciated.
