Campaign Story
The small island of Dominica in the Caribbean has been struck by a terrible tropical storm. It hit on Weds 26th August and still continues to lash at the island. News reports say that 20 people have died. Our dear friends are left with no power, limited food and communication and no access from where they live to the city. They have had to walk for two hours to get to the city to get food. Landslides and fallen trees and power lines block the streets. This is not just something that you read on the news, this is real. It's a real family and a real community whose lives have been devastated in the blink of an eye. Please help us to help them. Dominica is a little known island and so doesn't get the same international news coverage as other more known tourist islands like Antigua or St Lucia. Our friends are struggling and we want to help them. They have a little boy who is the same age as our children and the thought of them struggling to provide for their family is so upsetting. Houses, cars, streets, whole communities have been completely wiped out. Whatever money we can raise, with your help, on this site will be sent out to them so that they can start to re-build their lives and also help their friends within their community.
