Support Domestic Helper Risnatul In Her Fight Against Cancer

Dear Gracious Community,

My cousins and I would like to sincerely appeal for your kind help to contribute to our domestic helper, Risnatul’s living expenses, and medical bills. From Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia, Risnatul is 37, a single mother, and has been supporting her 60+-year-old mother and 5-year-old son. Previously, she had taken 6 months' worth of advance pay to pay for her mother’s brain surgery. Her husband has also left her for another woman after she started working for a year in Singapore. As the sole breadwinner, she has depleted her savings and desperately needs funds to pay for her cancer treatment on top of her family’s living expenses.

She has been working tirelessly in Singapore for the past 22 months, taking care of our grandfather’s daily needs. On 1st December 2021, she was admitted to Sengkang General Hospital after noticing swelling on her eye and legs. After 3 grueling days of waiting and tests, Risnatul was discharged and diagnosed with cancer. From the X-ray and CT scan, they found multiple nodules in her lungs and enlarged heart.

As a foreigner, she has zero government subsidies and grants. The insurance domestic helpers have only covers up to $15,000 of inpatient costs. Thus, we are unable to afford further tests to find out the type of cancer and which stage she is at. In addition, we urgently need to send her home for her medical treatment.

All medical/living expenses paid for by the funds raised will be properly recorded and accounted for in a log, for transparency. The funds raised will go a really long way to ensure she recovers safely when she returns home to Indonesia.
