Tima and his sister Nana, 17 and 11 years old, born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine, were awoken early in the morning on February twenty-fourth. The morning when air-raid sirens cried and Russian rockets rained upon their city, something no one in Europe has experienced in decades. They grabbed what they could, leaving almost everything behind, and fled the city. They began the arduous travel west to the border, where they said farewell to their brave father, who remained to defend his country.

They are now safe in France, in Europe and are asking for help for those who are not.

For you, dear donor, this is a sure way to help someone in need and help people who are actively helping others now.

My name is Eric, and I am organizing this fundraiser on their behalf. I am American; I am a university professor in Lyon, France, where I've lived for over 20 years. I am married to the mother of Tima and Nana. The aim of this fundraiser has a few different goals:

1) In the immediate future, we are looking to financially help their father, organizing humanitarian relief in the west of Ukraine. He uses his car to transport people from train and bus stations to the border. He is bringing material back from the border to Lviv. This comes at a high cost, as the price of petrol skyrockets and availability becomes scarce. Time is of the essence.

2) Tima and Nana's family remain in Kyiv. Grandmother, older brother, cousins, aunt, great-grandmother... These brave people are true Kyivans. It is their city, and they will not leave. Luckily, they are not alone. Friends and neighbors are there, preparing to defend Kyiv until the end. While it is still possible to get money and supplies to them, we would like to try to help them as much as we can, from a distance. Kyiv is strong, but they need more.

3) We know quite a few people doing great things in Ukraine right now. We want to be able to help them directly, on a grassroots level.

4) Depending on the developments of this invasion, and if the need and possibility exist, I will attempt a physical delivery of equipment, medical supplies, and clothing to the Ukraine/Poland border.

5) The last goal for this fundraiser is for the future. It is for the rebuilding of Kyiv. After the defeat and retreat of Russia. To the reunification of family. To try to recuperate a little from what has been destroyed. Ukraine will be victorious, but the family might have lost everything.

Thank you very much for reading this. I hope I will post many positive updates here, and I wish you all a great day.

Merci beaucoup d'avoir lu ceci.

We were able to get 100 sleeping mats from Poland brought over the border to be sent to Kyiv. They will be used in shelters and for the Territorial Defense, so they don't need to sleep on the floor.

looking for insulin.

Update posted by eric true at 12:42 pm

We are actively looking to get a supply of insulin to Kyiv. Pharmacies have been totally depleted. We are trying to find some in Poland, but it is only available on prescription. I’ve reached out to the Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières, but no response yet.
