Help Devan heal, move, and learn

Hey everyone. My name is Ashley and I am trying to help someone I grew up with to get out of an awful living situation. Throughout his life, Devan, has been pressured and judged for who he is because he wasn't keeping the "traditions" of his family. He has been dreaming of going to an acting and performing school. He believes that "we are living in a world where humans don't know how to be human." He has always been so loving and forgiving of everyone around him. Always telling me that humans shouldn't be so afraid to love and express themselves, but they are because of how we are conditioned as we grow up. He is wise beyond his years for sure. Devan wanted to go and be a part of that industry because "I want to encourage everyone to express themselves," he would tell me.

Devan auditioned for New York Film Academy this year and was accepted. To celebrate, he bolstered up enough confidence to come out to his family and friends as gay. As a result he had lost contact with a lot of friends and family unfortunately. "We can no longer associate with you," is what he had repeated to me that the majority of them had said. Unfortunately that is what some people still have to go through nowadays and its awful. Devan is always alone now, living with his mother and sister. He lost everyone he talked to in a matter of days. It was shocking. He is always alone and has changed, he is so quiet now and very depressed, even his eating habits have gotten bad. I am worried about his health and safety with the situation as he already has depression issues from childhood trauma.

He needs financial help to be able to travel and take care of down payments. For the school he was accepted into, he needs out of pocket down payments. Which is going to be impossible to save up for currently in his current living situation, as his mother is single and receiving no financial help. He is currently trying to help her keep up with bills. He is in a toxic environment and situation and I believe he can thrive and grow and do something amazing with his passions if he was given the chance. He just needs the financial help to be able to get out of the toxic place in Florida and goto New York to pursue his dreams.

He was enrolled to attend in January, but that goal is looking bleak. He may have to attend later next year unfortunately. It all depends on how much help he can get from the few friends that are still in his life and you. I included a video of one of his auditions for when he was accepted so you can see how much he cares about his dreams.
