David lives in Uganda and dreams of becoming a vet. He works so hard to care for and save the neglected animals, but now he has malaria. His family cannot afford a doctor's visit, let alone medicine. We are estimating $300 for the visit and treatment. But anything over the amount needed will go towards food for his animals, or any other urgent health needs.
He has been sick for a few days and herbal remedies are not working. So we are asking you to contribute towards getting him the help he needs. Any little bit helps.
He's very worried about his animals but they need him!
Good morning. So thrilled to see the goal met, again. David is home now, back with his animals who missed him very much.
We are going to raise the goal yet again. We want David and his Mum to be able to purchase a mosquito net for each of them, about $30 each. Also some more money for special drinks that he is supposed to drink to feel better. Also both this site and paypal charge fees for each transaction so we need to keep that in mind (direct donations to his paypal don't get any fees).
The initial $500 has pretty much been spent on hospital bill, taxi fees (expensive as they live outside the city) and food for his Mum while visiting him in the hospital.
David and his Mum are so grateful. We saved his life.
So again, thank you to everyone who has contributed. Every bit helps.
Good morning everyone. Thank you again for the donations. We have reached our original goal but have decided to raise it to $500. David provided a copy of the hospital bill-which is $314. However, that does not include the costs of taxis to/from the hospital (which can be expensive) or any follow-up visits or medicine. We would rather raise more than needed than not have enough.
If you didn't see his other Twitter post, he is extremely grateful for the outpouring of support. He lives alone with his Mum and the animals so it means a lot to him that so many people are helping and thinking of him.
Again, thank you to everyone. Please keep him in your thoughts and keep sharing the campaign.
First off, a huge thank you to everyone who has donated. We have heard from David. He is still in the hospital receiving medicine and resting. He will be discharged on Tuesday. We do not have a cost estimate, but given he is staying for a few more days we are going to increase the fundraiser to make sure there is enough for the stay and any followup visits or treatments. We do not want David or his mother to have to worry about money so they can focus on David getting better.
Given that malaria can be very serious and David has been sick for a few days already, I went ahead and sent the money already. His mother received it and was taking him to the hospital. We haven't had an update since then.
I am counting on the support of everyone to raise the money....I will provide another update when we hear something.
