“To know Daniel is to love Daniel” - that is what I have been told so many times.
Daniel was born with a Cmplete Heart Block and Long QT Syndrome and has had two open heart surgeries already in his 5 Years. He has a pacemaker and an Internal Cardiac Device (defibrillator) in his torso and along with medication he’s been doing reasonably well.
This month Daniel starting collapsing and receiving shocks from his ICD.
The doctors started to investigate what was going wrong and it was determined that Daniels LQT disease is getting much worse and he was going to need an extensive open heart surgery in the summer.
It was decided to change Daniels medication to attempt to stablise him and prepare his body for the surgery ahead.
Daniel was admitted into MUSC in Charleston on March 2nd to change over medication. It was not an easy few days with him having ventricular episodes and subsequent shocks received many times over in quick succession. It took four days and a great toll on Daniel but he managed to stablise and was sent home.
This only lasted 4 days.
Daniel collapsed on Saturday evening in the car. He was rushed home and had a major episode. 911 was called and he was then stabilised. This only lasted a few hours.
Daniel was admitted to MUSC on Sunday morning, March 11th at which point he had a massive run of heart attacks and over 10 defribrilations in under an hour. He was rushed to ICU where he is today. They are battling to stablise him before bringing the Open Heart Surgery forward to as soon as tomorrow.
His sister, Jessica, is with friends desperately waiting for Jons parents to arrive in from an emergency flight from England for support as they have no other family in America.
Jon is not working now and neither is Claire as they spend their time with Daniel and amazing friends are caring for Jessica. Medical expenses are racking up rapidly and any help and support you can give this special family would be amazing in taking some of the extreme pressure off.
Please keep Daniel in your thoughts and prayers as he prepares for yet another major battle.
