Campaign Story
Daniel Slabbert is a 29 year old man which lodges at me. I have taken him as my son.
At the age of 14 he had an accident on the farm in Katu where his father has a small cattle farm.
He was jumping on a trampoline and fell through a glass window.
They could not save his left leg and had to amputate it.
He is a strong willed young man and made golf his profession even being disabled.
He studied at UP and through his persistence managed to go big.
He has won 4 SA disabled golf opens
Sadly these are considerd amateur events and did not receive any prize monies.
He has 2 prosthetic legs and he unfortunately is using his backup which is in a terrible state.
These prosthetics are very expensive. Just as an example the upper portion excluding the knee mechanism costs and foot is R104,000.
He currently works at the Midstream Estate in the golf shop and also gives lessons to children and adults.
His desire is to to play the next SA disabled golf challenge where I can be his mentor.
His backup set is not going to last very long which would the confine him to crutches which would be devastating not only to his dreams of winning further championships but to his ability to teach.
I humbly request assistance for funds to help to get another one or two prosthetic legs.
He is willing to wear any sponsorship clothing at tournaments.
Feel free to google Daniel Slabbert professional amputee golfer
