Campaign Story
I started studying at University of Debrecen Medical Centre in 2014 to become an surgical doctor. I left my home (Nigeria) and family in hopes of returning after fulfilling one of my life's long dreams. Earn a medical degree.
My dad has been my sole sponsor until my 3rd year (2015) when I began incurring tuition debt. It started gradually and I thought it was just a rough patch at the time. Everybody goes through it. But this rough patch got worse. My country's falling economy wasn't helping either.
I managed to convince the school to let me write my 2nd year finals amidst my debt issues which they agreed to after much persuasion. I had not paid for the entire session by now. I was counting on my parents who work very hard for my sake.
After my exams I knew I had to do something about my debt (apart from praying) to help my parents out. I reached out to a lot of charities, NGOs, private organisations for help all to no avail.
Now the school won't let me continue with my studies as they have a policy about debt (One semester at most) which I'd crossed by now. The new semester began on 25th January 2017
but I have a restriction to enrol which will not be lifted until my debt is paid. This is my second clinical year in medical school and most important, as I am going to do some of my thesis this year after which comes the Internship.
I am a hardworking student, above average and I have always dreamed of contributing the little I can through my profession to lessen the world's pain.
This is my dream, my future and my hardwork of the past years about to become just a dream. I do not want to be thrown out of school.
This is why I need your help.
Thank you as you help me actualise my dream.
