My name is Myoung-Su Kim. I am a first year international master's student in food science at the University of Florida. I’m an independent student. I'm suffering much in given my situation. On last October 1st, my major advisor was transferred from UF to the University of Nebraska as tenured assistant professor, so she never paid for my tuitions. I'm looking for other advisors in the department of food science at UF, but they don't have any funding to support my tuitions. Moreover, I applied for FAFSA loan, 2013-2014, but UF Student Financial Affairs asked USCIS to verify my status if I can be eligible to receive the federal aid. Unfortunately, they said that I couldn't receive federal aid because F1, F2, J1, and J-2 visa holders are not eligible for federal aid. It makes me so frustrated because I can't afford to pay my tuitions any more. I was constantly trying to find more scholarships to help me pay for my education, but there were no available any scholarships to international student. It’s my last option to ask you for fundraising here to continue in my studying at UF. If not, I must be returned to my mother country. Your gifts help make my higher education accessible and affordable for my education at UF. It makes me feel that I am not alone on the journey of accomplishing my educational goals.
