Help Christene Walk

We are raising funds for Christene to have an operation. She needs an urgent operation by the latest 30 April 2020 to get her to walk as she is diagnosed with cerebral palsy. With your support this little princess can live a normal life.

Some background info about Christene:

Christine was born 30 April 2016 at 29 weeks. She spent 30 days in the NICU as she was not fully developed yet and had issues breathing. A doctor had examined her and after taking x rays and a brain scan the doctor mentioned it was too early to say but there might be a problem with the child.

This beautiful little angel managed to survive against all odds. When she was supposed to start crawling but she didn't. She would battle to keep herself up. To cut a long story short, Christene started crawling at the age of 1 year 8 months. Christene crawls around everywhere but gets very frustrated as she wants to walk but she can't which breaks our heart.

Last year March she started therapy at Muriel Brand school once a week and already we started seeing improvement.

In June 2019 she started attending school and receives therapy at least 4 times a week. That is when a proper diagnosis was performed and we were told the child has cerebral palsy.

Christene is a very bright girl and has a zest for life. Her only dream is to walk so when her therapist called us in and advised us that we need to go see a specialist as there is nothing more they could do for her our hearts sank.

Dr Potgieter met Christene for the first time at Christene's school and we were told that a proper evaluation needs to be done and that a surgery will probably be needed. We made an appointment and after a proper examination and it was confirmed that an operation is needed.

The problem is that the operation is urgent due to issues with the hips. The bone that hooks into the hips is not in the right position and if we wait until the child is 4 years old that bone could hook out and then she would need a hip replacement.

Besides that issue the tendons need to be stretched, her knees need to be aligned, her ankles need to be straightened etc.

The doctor has given us 100% chance that Christene will walk independently after she has made full recovery. That is all we needed to hear, our dream is to see this little angel walk, run, dance and we hope that with your help we will be able to do that for Christene. We need to raise R376.969.78 in order to make her dream come true.
