Charitable foundation Happy Child operates the Children's Village project which constructs/renovates family-type homes for abandoned kids with serious developmental pathologies.

Children should be brought up in a family, not in an orphanage - that is confirmed by multiple research studies and by common sense. Thanks to the support of caring people, for the last several years Happy Child Foundation has been helping orphaned children find their loving families as well as build family-style houses for those children who still don’t have their mom and dad.

In December 2011, the Happy Home #1 opened its doors for orphans of Kalinovka Children’s Home. Nine boys with special needs now live in the family-style home. It's not exactly a family, but living conditions are significantly different from those in a group home. The children feel like they are at home: anytime they like, they can drop by the kitchen to have tea, enjoy their free time in the bedroom, or work on a computer. The small number of children in the house is in itself conducive to creating a family environment.

In May 2014, we opened Happy Home #2 in Kalinovka, for seven children with special needs.

In 2015, Happy Homes #3 and #4 were finished at the same time as part of the Children's Village - Happy Child project. Of the 23 children who now live there, three have special needs.

Construction of Happy Home #5 began in 2016, with most of the work completed in 2017. We need to finish paperwork, connect natural gas, build fences, etc. We plan to start construction of the house for orphans very soon, so more kids can live in loving families.

You can help financially or by donating construction materials or labor.

We specifically need the following:

  • cement, rebar, bricks, insulation, and other construction materials;
  • outdoor paving bricks;
  • furniture;
  • interior decorating materials;
  • computers, TV sets;
  • a used or a new minivan or a minibus with seven- to eleven-person capacity.

Our project is fully transparent. Since 2004, we have been issuing detailed reports on all our expenses,. We are happy to answer any questions you might have and to hear any ideas you might have regarding how to help.
