Let’s Help Cherry Fight Breast Cancer

There is no way to prepare for the feeling that comes over you when someone says, you have cancer” we never realize how devastating these 3 words can be, your emotions set in, are these 3 words a death sentence, is this the start of the end, you want to run and hide, but you can’t

This is the start of the biggest fight of your life, the fight against cancer, the fight to survive!!

This passed June 2022, Cherry Vlahakis, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt, and loyal friend was diagnosed with breast cancer after finding a lump in her breast.

I have known Cherry for many years, Cherry is a loyal, loving, and incredible person. Time and time again, Cherry has put everyone’s needs before her own, and truly has always been there for others when they need help. If you know Cherry, you will know that she is like the Mama Bear to all that knows her and the rock to her family and on a daily basis do anything and everything for her family and friends.

The journey so far:

In June 2022 Cherry felt a lump in her breast, and consulted a Dr in Lusaka, Zambia who determined that she needed a mammogram and test done as soon as possible, the same day Cherry had the mammogram and test done, the mammogram and test results was sent to India, on Friday 24 June 2022, Cherry was diagnosed with stage 2 Breast Cancer, and advised to travel to India for more tests and treatment including possible surgery.

You can just imagine all the arrangements that need to be made if you travel to another country for medical treatment, flight tickets, accommodation, visas, and the list goes on.

On Sunday 10 July 2022, Cherry and her daughter accompanying her, departed from Lusaka, Zambia to Delhi India, stressed and worried not sure what the next few weeks or even months will hold in, but ready to take on this battle and to overcome this obstacle.

Over the last 2 weeks Cherry had to undergo multiple invasive procedures, MRI scans and multiple biopsies and is scheduled for a mastectomy and Thyroidectomy on Friday 20 July 2022 followed by extensive chemotherapy and possible radiation therapy at Max Specialized hospital in India.

The financial worry has been equal to the terror of the diagnosis, cancer treatment takes a tremendous toll financially, while certain costs will be covered by family and friends, Cherry’s treatment will incur medical expenses beyond the current available funds.

It is difficult for a family to ask for financial assistance, today as a friend I come and ask for your donation to help fund Cherry’s treatment. Please consider donating and help us lessen the burden on Cherry and her family as she takes on this fight against cancer with the fearlessness and grace, we all know her for.

All donations received will be used for medical expenses, hospitalization, surgeries, and procedures while in India. Anything Extra will be donated to another family in need.
