My name is Heartnee. My cat Charlie was hit by a car. Car wasn't crushed him, just hit. We found him next to the road. He couldn't move, but there was no blood. We took him to the vet immediately. After the examination and roentgengram was done has been found the fracture of the one bone of pelvis, and the other one moved away from the spine. There is loss of control of the hind limbs (with partial preservation of sensitivity) due to partial compression of the spinal cord.
The reason - a displacement of the vertebrae, or pressure of hematoma that was occurred during injury. The doctor said that surgery is not necessary to do now. He appointed injections 2 times daily for 7 days, and to limit the mobility as much as possible. He recomended to keep the cat in the cage. The urine was leaking at first, but then it's gone. Also he has a diarrhea. I do not know what to give him to eat. At first I fed him with the natural food - boiled chicken, cottage cheese, eggs, and then began to give a cats food, anyway the cat has constipation. Milk do not help.
A week later, the doctor said that as there is no positive dynamics it is necessary to do an MRI of the spine. MRI showed that the cat has a central nervous system damage. And most likely we have to euthanize the cat, because there is no chances that he will recover. This is not right - to keep him in a cage for all his life... We are very upset, but nevertheless decided to try to turn to more expensive doctor. Another doctor confirmed the diagnosis, but he said that it is possible to try to make one the expensive operation, after which the cat can get better. Hope is appeared for Charlie. But we just don't know where to get the money.
Please help to our Charlie. He is suffering...
