Help Charles FIGHT Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

The hardest thing for a parent is to learn his young and AMAZING son has cancer. I felt my whole world collapsed when the diagnosis came out and it was Stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This is our story.

Early January 2020, Charles experienced uncomfortable itching all over his body and noticed lumps on his neck. This was followed by an on-and-off fever and shortness of breath as well as feeling tired all the time. Because of this, he went for a medical checkup and the primary doctor requested a series of lab tests as well as a chest X-ray. The results of his X-ray showed a 10-cm mediastinal mass on his left lung. He was immediately confined and underwent another set of lab procedures as well as CT scans. A biopsy was done on two lymph nodes and the confirmatory pathological diagnosis after two weeks is Hodgkin Lymphoma, Nodular Lymphocyte Predominant. Due to the CT scan findings, his oncologist has assessed his condition as Stage 3.

We have seen and talked with multiple physicians hoping for a fast cure or even a miracle. The intervention decided was for Charles to undergo chemotherapy twice a month for six months with or without radiation.

February 12 was the start of his chemotherapy and now he is having some side effects from it with headaches, dizziness, nausea, and mouth ulcers. He is trying so much to be strong and positive about his condition and so do we. My heart cries out as a mom wishing and praying that he will get well soon and be cured from this illness.

It is still a long hurdle and I beg earnestly for your help to raise funds for his therapy. The whole 12 cycles of chemotherapy treatment will cost us an estimate of Php 1,000,000 and will be in no doubt financially draining for us. We are also awaiting results for a CD marker which if positive will cost an additional Php 95,000.00 per treatment. Every little donation towards Charles’ medical expenses will help us continue his chemotherapy and give him a better chance in fighting this rare type of cancer and continue his dream to become a doctor [Charles is a first-year medical student and was advised to withdraw to focus on getting well first].
