Hello, my name is Carlos Osio, I am a civil engineer with a great social sense for Colombia, I have received an amazing opportunity to start an online Master of Science in Management (iMSM), at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, in the United States of America.

About me

Humanity is really living one of the most difficult processes in history, a pandemic that has wreaked havoc in health, education, economy, employability, among others, all this in a global dimension not being exempt from this crisis any human being on the planet.

Many are those who have lost their jobs and businesses; of which I have been one of those great victims of this whole situation. In this way, I must admit that one of the great consequences that this has brought to my life, is the serious injury to the finances of my home. In addition to this, my wife is also unemployed as a result of the pandemic, generating much difficulty within my home; since it is necessary to pay the rent, utilities, health plan, retirement plan, school expenses of my daughter who is 7 years old, which I can cover with extreme difficulty. This has generated the great need to achieve a competitive advantage in the professional field, which can only be achieved through better and more efficient skills in the labor market.

I have a dream

I firmly believe that every human being has the right to have equal opportunities and not be discriminated against because of their religion, race, sex, disability, or anything similar, without being restricted in the development of their potential under any premise. I believe that our planet deserves a society of respect for the differences of others as long as their tendencies do not affect the free development of others. I believe in a generation of fighters who will be able to move the planet forward when this terrible pandemic is mitigated. For all of the above, I must say that my vision is to prepare myself with a postgraduate degree with which I can become that agent of change that our society needs promptly; And the Master of Science in Management at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is the perfect opportunity for me to generate employment and development to my nation Colombia, which has been beaten for years in a cruel and merciless way by an internal war with guerrillas and other groups outside the law, which has only generated misery, chaos, inequality, hopelessness, and very few opportunities to study, thus achieving the highest ideals of humanity. Our society cries out for transformative, innovative, and truthful leadership that generates well-being, inclusion, equality, and respect for diversity.

This pandemic and the local war that my nation lives today have managed to generate suffering, but they have not extinguished the dreams of generating a transcendental change in all spheres of the social and humanitarian sphere.

Why I have created this fund

That is why I respectfully ask you to help me, because currently, I have received a partial scholarship for 70% of my tuition, through the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. I still need to cover 30%. I have no support from the Colombian government or any other entity that can help me at this time, that is why I have turned to you because if the University of Illinois has believed in me, you can do it too.
