My name is Edith J. Mandilag. The wife of Capt. Michael Z. Mandilag who was a Pilot and Flight Instructor for more than 30 years.

Our family severely suffered financial hardship that started from the lockdown of March 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. My husband's work was badly affected. He used to work at the Philippine Airlines Aviation School and it was temporarily shutdown operations from March 2020 until it was finally decided to permanently shutdown after a more than a year. From that one-year period of waiting for the school to resume its operations, we exhausted our savings to finance our basic needs and the schooling of our children ages 20, 19, 13 and 6 years old during that time (Currently 23, 22, 16, and 9). Our eldest eventually stopped schooling.

The severance pay that he got from the company went to payment of debts that we incurred from 2020 to 2022 including the arrears of our house that is under loan thru PAG-IBIG fund. Sometime from July of 2021 up to October 2022 after a year of no income, he got another job, but only it lasted for 7 months and came another consultancy project that lasted for 5 months but he was not given a single compensation for it. We resorted to borrowing from relatives again. It was only recently, September of 2023 when he got a job in Manila. Our last settlement of our housing loan was March 2023, the fund came from selling our second-hand car, proof that there is an honest intention to pay and settle our arrears.

While we were juggling to make all ends meet, my husband suffered from anxiety and stress that lead to his untimely death last 2 January 2024.

We incurred unpaid amortizations from January 2023 up to December 2023 and sadly, upon our inquiry to PAG-IBIG, we were told that our housing loan was not anymore covered by the Mortgage Redemption Insurance (MRI). This is an extremely unfortunate incident because it was just a matter of one (1) month that he was disqualified for redemption.

My family and I are appealing to you, to help us raise funds, due to this sad and unfortunate event. I would like to recover the property that was put up by my husband's sweat and blood. I am a plain housewife left with 4 children, and all of them are still in school. To pay off the arrear amortization and real property tax penalties we need to raise up to P600,000 pesos.

Given the chance that we will recover our house, I am also starting a small food business so that we can sustain our future amortizations until we fully pay this housing loan that my husband started.

We appeal to you to help us save our shelter for our children especially our youngest who is 9 years old now.

You may message us personally on our social media accounts or email for further details and clarifications.
