Hello my name is Sophie Bocalid and currently based in Hurghada, Egypt. My family is from the Philippines and most of them are in Capiz. They are okay and safe but their province is in shuffle. In behalf of Team Help Capiz, we are asking you to donate money to buy school supplies (pencils, pens, notebooks, crayons, bags etc.) for the children of Capiz. One of Help Capiz Team's goal is to provide school supplies for the children of Capiz. We can accomplish our goal through the monetary donations of supporters like you.
We are a group of private Capiznon citizens based in Manila Capiz and Egypt maintaining HELP CAPIZ Facebook page and other social media tools (Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr) to help us aid to the reliefs for Capiz. We are mobilizing our own resources, our parents’ resources, friends’ resources, friends’ friends resources and other private citizens resources to reach out to our fellow Capiznons who are in need. Neither millions of pesos in our bank accounts nor millions worth of properties. We are just bringing out what we have to help our fellow countrymen even us too and our relatives in Capiz are also in a state of need. We also have limited resources. So we ask your help in our collection of donations for the Typhoon Yolanda victims in Capiz.
The province of Capiz in the Philippines has suffered tremendous damage and casualties from the Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).
During the relief operations of Team Help Capiz in the areas of Capiz, they passed by areas which seemed to be the end of the world. Everything has been destroyed, trees uprooted, blocked in the middle of the road, flatten houses, roofs of business establishments and school blown away and heavily destroyed, electric and telephone lines fell along with the posts. We wondered where houses were as only a few pieces of wood left. We’re very sad about what we’ve seen and we realized that the nature can be very cruel - it can take everything it gave us in an instant.
We met teachers and parents from different areas and one of their cries are school supplies for the children. Parents and their school-aged children are salvaging and drying books and school supplies that were washed out.
We also met a little girl and her house was totally destroyed, but there she was, worried about her school books, because she wants to go to school. And it’s the only thing she has left. Parents in these communities simply cannot afford to buy school supplies or to send their children to school.
Giving school supplies to these children brings a big smile to their faces.
Please help us to help the Children of Capiz. WE NEED YOUR HELP.
