Help Caley Crush Cancer!

Dear Fellow Facebookers and the wider world,

it is with a heavy heart that I bring this to the public’s attention. My sister, Caley May Franken, the one with the huge personality, the biggest smile, the kindest heart and the most adventurous soul has recently been diagnosed with stage 2 breast Cancer. For those of you who don't know Caley, she is a 31 year old school teacher living in South Korea, a place she has called home for the past 5 years of her life. She is originally from Durban in South Africa.

This tragic news has taken a massive toll on her mind, body and soul as she is the biggest go getter there is and hates to be withheld from what life has to offer. It has taken a lot of courage for Caley to step out and continue with her everyday life as her mind is constantly racing with all of the possibilities that the future may hold. Her bravery needs to be recognised as throughout all of her tests and hospital visits she has continued teaching her classes at her school on a daily basis putting her job and students first shows once again how loving, selfless and strong my sister really is. She has also been embracing each day and making the most of her free time, ensuring she enjoys every moment.

The oncologists have decided that Caley will need to undergo surgery and have a double mastectomy. Thereafter she will need chemotherapy which will last for between 6 months and 1 year. Not only does this effect her mentally, but it brings about huge financial battles as this treatment does not come cheap.

Myself and my family will do as much as we can to support her throughout this difficult time and will be joining her in South Korea on Friday, February 3rd for the Surgery which will take place on Monday February 5th. We will remain with her for the recovery thereafter. I have created this page in order to reach out to anyone who has crossed paths with Caley over the years to help where possible. I am starting a fundraiser for Caley to remove some of the financial stress associated with the situation so that she can focus on her health and getting better. Donating even the smallest amount will go a long way and will be greatly appreciated by her and all those who love her. We are aiming to reach $20 000. this will cover the cost of surgery as well as costs associated with her recovery.

She is the strongest person I know and will beat this without a doubt. Let’s all show our love and support for my incredible and inspirational sister! I love her, and I know that each person she meets will forever be a friend.
