Dear friends,

I do believe that education is mother and father of every age. With five degrees and the only one educated person in my entire village, I can do a little to change the life of most vulnerable children and people in Makuach village.

I was born in this village and all I know about the village is that, all the past generations and present generation have never had opportunity to learn. Here is a simple reason. There has never been existed school in the entire village. Today, thousands of children and parents in Makuach village badly need education and their only hope is help that may come from me. There are some established under trees schools which are located in very villages from Makuach village.

It is unfortunate that many children in Makuach village do not attend these schools. They have become the victims of lack of schools and education. Since I am the only educated son from this village and I can only do less to help them find a school, the best thing I can do is to ask my friends like you to help them with building a school so that the children you see in the video attached herein will have opportunity to learn, succeed, and live a better life.

The idea of building a school for these children was born in 2012. Upon returning to my village four times, I took this video and this was taken from a school being operated in the under trees in Mangar Mou village. Mangar village is about 25 miles away from Makuach village. Some children from Makuach village walk to this school every day to learn. I walked with them when I visited the school for roughly 4 or 5 hours a day. It was tough to reach the school hungry and tiresome. Children get there tired and exhausted. Their learning ability is ever satiety as you can imagine. It was great experience for me to teach at this school for four consecutive days. I learned a lot! One teacher had to hold a board and stand while other teacher was teaching. There were only five teachers teaching about 1,083 children. Children stayed in school there hungry and they would walk back to their homes trekking many hours. Teachers had no enough chalks to write with. Students shared one notebook. Grade one through four just write on the floor. The school is the poorest school.

Leave alone the danger of learning in the under trees to both students and teachers. The trees branches fall on students and teachers and they get hurt when strong wind strikes the trees. While I was at that school, I saw many terrible things that children in Makuach and Mangar Mou villages did not deserve. I felt sad and so motivated that I must do something to help these vulnerable children with building a school since the Government of newly established nation, South Sudan is unable to build schools for children especially in the rural areas.

I was faced off with many questions to answer in every place I visited. Children and parents and teachers had constantly asked me this question: Can you and Americans help build a school for us? This is a hard question to answer but my answer was definitely, yes, we will try to help you with one school. When I say "we" I mean you and I. We can help and I need your generosity to help them meet education they dearly need. Makuach village is one of the villages that do not have educators in South Sudan. By chance, I am the only educator from this village and what made it possible for me was great assistance from Americans like you.

The goal of building Makuach Central School for the children in Makuach village will serve three purposes. First, every child in Makuach village will learn free education in protected environment. Second, children will gain skills and knowledge that give them chances to find employment and walk out of the poverty stricken. Third, the enrollment of girls in a school will increase because parents will allow them to attend school near their homes. Girls have become the victims of attending schools in far villages because they've got rapped on both ways. Therefore, many parents do not allow girls to attend such schools.

Finally, when these youngsters get educated, they will also involve in building their nation and they'll also help educate the next generation.

Therefore, your contributions means empowering the children of Makuach village with an education, find employment and live a better life. So act today!
