Brownie is a 7 months old Persian mixed kitten who needs to undergo surgery. He fractured his left hind leg (thigh bone) on 27th April when he jumped from our cupboard to the floor . Everyone is the house thought he had just sprained his leg due to the jump . But aft a week later , he is still limping . My husband and I thought that it would be best to bring him to the vet to check on his leg . We brought him to the nearby vet to get him checked . The doctor told us that he had broken his thigh bone due to the impact and his fractured is quite bad . As he is still a kitten , their bones have not developed fully and is not strong enough . The doctor recommended 4 options for us to choose from :-
1. Send Brownie to a specialist for surgery to insert plates on his bones. But this costs SGD5000+ including hospitalisation fee.
2. Undergo surgery at the neighbourhood vet but there's a 50/50 risk of complication . This cost SGD1500-SGD2500 . The doctor also told use that the surgery might nt be successful and if any incident like that occur , additional charges may be imposed.
3. Leave the fractured bone alone but he will limp his whole life😔. But this also has a risk of the tissue around that area did not cover the fractured bone and he will still be in pain EVERYDAY . And there is also a risk of his nerve system fails .
And when his nerve system fails ...
4. Amputation of the leg is required . Which will cost about SGD1000-SGD2000 .
It will be greatly appreciated by us if any could help us fund for his surgery to get him back on his feet . God Bless !
