My name is Brittany Mylant and I was a student at Cleveland State University. I attended Cleveland State University for three semesters, up until which time I wasn't receiving enough financial aid. At the time, I had nowhere else to live, so I was forced to utilize the campus housing, which was more than I could afford. I worked two jobs while in school, yet still, it was not enough to make the tuition. I come from a low income family in downtown Cleveland. Throughout my childhood and adolescent years, my parents suffered from drug addiction. I never received much emotional or financial support from most of my family. Writing is my passion. I write poems, novels, and short stories. I want to share my talents with students like me who have nowhere else to turn besides the blank page. My dream is to become a published author and my goal is to teach Creative writing at a college level to guide other young people to perfect their craft. In order to go back to Cleveland State University and work vigorously to receive my bachelor’s degree, I need 7,000 to pay off my student account. I am now living with a family member, so I am confident that I will have enough financial aid to continue, since I no longer have to pay for housing. After I graduate Cleveland State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English-Creative Writing, I plan to attend Western Washington University to complete my Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, and hopefully go on to publish many books and teach many other young aspiring writers. I can't do it alone. As prideful as I am at times, I am finally asking for help.
