Help Bring my Mom to Graduation

Dear all,

My name is Junior Sanchez Prado, from Peru, and I am pursuing a major in Spanish and Hispanic Studies at Earlham College, in Richmond, Indiana. I am graduating in May 2020 and for me, that moment will be so special since I am a first-generation college student. My parents did not have the opportunity to attend college for economic reasons. Nowadays my father works as a peddler (he sells portable Bluetooth speakers from place to place) and my mom as a washerwoman. They are my motivation and strength to keep going even though the path may seem to be hard sometimes. For that and more, I would love to bring one of my parents to graduation next year (since bringing two people from Peru to the States is pretty expensive) and make them celebrate not only mine but also their achievement.

You may be wondering, how did I end up studying in a liberal arts college in the United States? I would like to share my story:

I started working when I was eight years old. I wanted to help my parents with some money to cover both our house's and school's expenses. I used to sell chocolates with my father every day and my routine used to be as follow: waking up at 4 am, working until 10 a.m and then going to school in the afternoon. At the age of thirteen, I left my house and my village to go to Lima. Thanks to my participation in a social movement of working children, known as MNNATSOP-Peru, I had the opportunity to continue my studies in Lima and to participate in meetings with some members of the Peruvian Congress. By that time I understood that as a child I could change the world for better and that children are not only the future but also the present.

Thanks to MNNATSOP I was able to learn about my rights, and develop a lot of skills such as public speaking and critical analysis. For instance, I have led several projects and workshops throughout the last five years in several Peruvian cities. Moreover, I have participated in many conferences as a speaker.

All of this work done throughout my childhood was perhaps the reason for being nominated to the Children's International Peace Price 2015, in which I made the short list.

After finishing secondary school, I applied to the United World Colleges through the UWC Peru National Committee and, after a lengthy selection process, I was awarded a full scholarship to attend UWC Atlantic College, in Wales, United Kingdom. There, I studied the International Baccalaureate (known as IB). Please watch the following video to get to know about the UWC and, above all, get to know my family! The video is in Spanish:

Although I went to Wales without speaking English, I successfully finished the IB. I applied to some colleges and universities in the USA, and I got accepted in most of them. Thankfully, Earlham College admitted me and offered me a full scholarship to cover my tuition, room, and board. I am now a rising senior, and I can't believe the time has passed quickly.

All the aforementioned is just a summary of my history. I hope this helps to understand the path I have been through to achieve my academic goals and the importance of having at least one of my parents in my graduation.
I am asking for $4000 that would be distributed as follow:
-A trip from home (Piura) to the USA Embassy in Lima for visa application: $300
-Visa's fees: $560
-Getting a passport: $100
-Flight ticket from Piura (PE) to Dayton (OH), USA: $2300
-Travel insurance: $140
-Housing and food in the USA (three days): $200
-Other expenses: $200
-Platform fees: $200
