Who Are We Helping?
My beautiful friend Christine has been suffering from a chronic illness for over 20 years now, an illness that dramatically affects her self-esteem and makes coping with day to day life extremely difficult for her. In my eyes she is the most beautiful soul inside and out, but she simply cannot see this herself. Now in her early 30s, she works hard at maintaining as normal a life as possible and I am constantly awed by her courage and determination.
Why We Need Help
There is one thing that torments her most and undermines her view of herself to the degree where it affects her ability to interact with people and pursue work opportunities: her teeth. While to most people her teeth look reasonably fine, Christine is deeply embarrassed and self-conscious about the fact that her top front teeth are crooked. She desperately wants to have them straightened and believes this will improve her self-esteem no end and allow her to cope with life so much better. As I say, to me she is beautiful as she is, but the fact that she can only see herself as hideous and deformed breaks my heart. And so I am asking for help to bring a smile to her face and to her heart.
What We Need
Christine has had a couple of quotes done on dental work to straighten her teeth, the cheapest of which was $5,000 Aus. This cost is beyond both her and myself, though she has managed to save a partial amount towards it. Given that her condition affects her ability to work full-time, saving the full amount is impossible. And so I am asking on her behalf for you good people out there to help raise a further $3,800 so that Christine can have this procedure done and she can smile a genuine smile that she deserves so much.
Many thanks to you all in advance for taking the time to read this and, hopefully, for helping out!
