Help Brett get to the Huntsman Cancer Institute!

The Doyle family has received the sad news that Brett has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer that has metastasized to the bone. The Doyle’s are now facing a difficult and uncertain journey. The past few weeks have been filled with testing, imaging, biopsies, doctor appointments, stress, sadness and gratitude.

The next step for Brett is to travel to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City. His first appointment is January 24th. Kathy will travel with Brett to help and support. We are thankful that Brett has health insurance, however his out of pocket deductible, travel and lodging expenses are going to be exponential.

Over the course of 31 years Brett has impacted hundreds of children working as a teacher and volunteering as a coach. For the first 26 years of his career he taught 4th grade at Lincoln Elementary, 8th grade math at O'Leary Middle School, and the past 5 years at South Hills Middle School teaching 8th grade math. When Brett and Kathy's boys, Wyatt and Miller were young, Brett volunteered many summers coaching youth baseball. Brett loves to spend time with his family, but outside of that, his FAVORITE thing to do is to go on fishing trips with "the guys" (you know who you are!:)

As devastating as this discovery has been, Brett and Kathy's story is further impacted by Multiple Sclerosis which Kathy has been living with for the past 15 years. As Kathy has gracefully dealt with her disease, Brett has been her protector and helper. He has taken on additional home duties that Kathy originally prided herself in. Remarkably, through all of this, the two of them have never asked for help, but rather have demonstrated what true love looks like during times of adversity.
