Help Blake Fight For Education In Africa!

Hello everyone!

I have recently been accepted into a volunteer program through IVHQ! I will be embarking on the journey of a lifetime to a rural village in Zambia, Africa. This opportunity is something so near and dear to my heart. I will be staying for 8 weeks! I need to be there on November 4th. So I am trying to raise the adequate amount of fund for visas, flight, insurance, vaccinations and other necessities such as supplies. My program fee includes my housing, meals, and airport transport.

This program will be sending me to live with a family in a very remote village and there I will be doing a number of volunteer duties. This village has no running water and limited electricity. My main goal there will be teaching children of many ages in a small school located three miles away from my living quarters. These children do not speak any English. The school is very very poor. They do not have have writing utensils, paper, books, chalk, games, or anything else associated with learning. These children NEED to learn English and basic math and other curriculum to become productive members of society so that they may provide for their families. As we all know education plays a huge role in the people we become. Imagine your whole life without schooling. Imagine a world where you can’t write your name or even count to ten; these children are in this world you are imagining.

As well as teaching these children I will also be emerged into their culture. It will be a learning experience for me as well. I will need to be able to bring supplies with me on arrival due to there not being anywhere to acquire them when I get there. They will need all the necessary supplies just like us here in the United States. On top of that they are in desperate need of hygiene products! So that is another check on my list.

I will be leaving my family, friends and job to per-sue this. This is something that I’ve wanted to do since I was young. I also have an intense fear of flying so good fortune and prayers are much appreciated! I have struggled with depression and anxiety my whole life and I feel the only time I don’t seem to feel it is when I’m helping others. If you know me you’ll know I’m a peace and love type of person. We are put on this planet for a number of reasons and I believe that all of us should be more kind and passionate about helping others.

So with that being said, I am trying to raise this money for some of my trip expenses. I will need to get a number of vaccines along with some very helpful malaria tablets!
