Help Bikema Academic Centre

Bikema Academic Centre is a secondary school which gives access to education to students from low income families in Malawi. Africa. In additional to traditional academic subjects at Bikema students are also taught servant leadership which ensures that the students have the right morals. We want to create a generation with the right mindset emphasizing much on character (integrity). We also teach financial literacy skills in which we expand young people’s ability to manage their personal finances smartly and effectively. We introduce our students to concepts like earning, budgeting, saving, spending and banking. We also teach entrepreneurship by giving our students skills to start and manage their own businesses and to apply entrepreneurial thinking to solve everyday problems. We also focus on girls education looking at how behind our women are in terms of education. Since its opening, Bikema Academic Centre has taken in around 300 pupils from low-income families in Lilongwe’s Area 24 where the school is located. As a result, not only has the demand risen because it has become evident to families in the area that the school is making a big difference in their children's lives, but the school’s financial resources have also become overwhelmed. Because we are committed to subsidizing education for young people from low income families, the school’s financial reserves have been depleted through the scholarship program, and now our fear is that we may not continue to keep the school open in the long term due to huge rental cost. To guarantee the continuity of the school we need to purchase our own land and have our own premises. The money that you are going to donate will help us purchase our own land where we will raise make shift classrooms and use the money which would have been paid as rent to develop the land gradually.
