My neighbourhood tomcat, who I call Big Boi, was badly injured before Christmas. It was really hard to find anyone to help to catch him, but finally, with the help of a fantastic volunteer at a local animal volunteer group, we were able to get him to the vet yesterday.
His leg will be amputated and he will be neutered (he is the father of 4 super cute kittens who come to say hello to me every day, so he's had his fair go!). The wonderful vet will do the operation at a discount price of €100 - he is an extraordinary man who donates his time and income to helping strays and works up to midnight to do so.
Another animal volunteer group have miraculously agreed to foster Big Boi while he heals and gets used to having 3 legs - without this, we could not have saved him, as he would not survive on the street straight from the vet.
If you've ever been to Greece, you will know that it has a very serious stray problem. I know there are much more important things happening in the world right now, but if you can spare a few quid to give this old street fighter another chance, it would be a lovely thing to start 2021 with. I hope to cover the vet fees and what it will cost to foster him...BUT if there is more money donated, then I would like to give it to the two volunteer groups who do such amazing work for free and are under tremendous pressure, so please don't stop if the target is reached, the money will go to a very worthy cause.
And please don't start calling me a crazy cat lady - I'm just crazy, same as before, okay? Love yas :) XX
