Help Bia get Harvoni for her Hep C treatment!

I discovered that I had been infected with the Hepatitis C virus in 2014 after completing some complex blood tests to find the source of my health problems. It is believed I became exposed to Hepatitis C in my early twenties from a routine dental procedure .

Since I have been diagnosed with this disease I have been under a doctor's care for monitoring. She performs yearly tests to determine the progression of the disease.

Some people are only carriers of the HEP C virus and the virus does not affect their health or their liver. I am NOT one of the lucky ones. Currently the level of my Fibrosis is F0 but the last Fibrosis test and Actitest from January 2017 has created many concerns. The tests indicated I now have 4x the virus in my body from when I had the tests performed in 2016.

My doctor has told me that I have two options:

1) Follow the "cheaper" treatment with Interferon. But that means I have to go trough hell ... The side effects of interferon treatment are very harsh and the success rate is low. Also the cost for that gets close to 10 000 Euros for a cure and if the virus does not parrish the threatment has to be repeated , with all the side effects and the pains and the costs that involves.

2) Save money for the newer, medically approved Harvoni treatment that has over a 95% success rate.

When discovered Harvoni I started researching the product and have only seen “happy ending” stories with people getting completely 'cured'!

I can be cured, but I cannot currently afford the treatment. I also do not wish to wait till my body has been devastated by this disease. Hep C is the number one cause of liver cancers. Once fully compromised only a liver transplant could save me. But that liver would also become infected with the virus. Transplants and immune suppression drugs would not be needed if the disease could be cured now! I still could not afford such invasive procedures.

My government only allows those who have health insurance coverage or $48,000 in cash to access the necessary drugs. These drugs will cure me and give me back my life. I have lived under a cloud for the past few years with my health issues and problems. I want my life back.

My doctor said that if I win the lottery I should come back and see her. I am hoping not for a miracle but for the caring proactive support of individuals. Even one dollar from an individual will help me to end my daily nightmare. I don't like to ask for money but I have no other choice or real options.

I can wait a few more years to see what my government will do. Perhaps they will change their minds about funding the cure. But government has made many promises that have not been kept or have been swiftly 'forgotten'. I prefer not to leave my health to such political gambles.

Meanwhile I saving the money I need as best I can to get the cure. It would still take me 4-5 years to save these funds under the most optimum of conditions. I just hope it will not be too late.
