Benjie is the Cake Monster.

His love for this sweet baked good is only surpassed by his love in making people around him happy. He is the type of person who would go out of his way to do kind things for his friends. Benjie will pick fresh mangoes from their backyard’s tree and bring it to you just because you tell him you are craving it.

Benjie is a talented artist. He taught himself how to use 3D designing programs which eventually became his career. He’s an amazing photographer whose specialty is capturing unguarded moments. In Journalism school, he excelled in Current Events recitations because he consumed newspapers and magazines.

But he is the last one to take himself seriously. He likes to kid around. But he never plays mean pranks.

He was diagnosed with colon cancer last year. The cancer is now at Stage 4 and has spread to his lungs and liver.

We, his friends, humbly ask for your help in his battle against the Big C. There are many things that Benjie still wants to do. He wants to design furniture, do stock markets, go back to designing things and teach his nephew his craft.

Donations in any amount will be of great help.

You can also send your donations to his mother’s account:

Sept. 1 update

Benjie's tube was removed yesterday because his blood pressure became stable. The next step would be feeding him with soup and soft food. He's responding to questions through sign language. The colostomy bag is finally working!

Today, he got blood transfusion because his hemoglobin went down. His antibiotic dosage was also increased. We are hoping he continues to recover and he become well enough so he can go home to his family to recover from the operation. He has no one in the hospital because caretakers are not allowed inside. It's better for him to be at home. His doctor promised to look after him while he's at home. Again, the doctor is a family friend and lives nearby. So he can always visit Benj.

Please continue to pray that his condition stabilizes.

12:00 nn update

We were told by Benjie's mom that Benj is going to have a major operation before or after lunch. Again, this is to remove the blocking on his intestines. This is a major operation and if you are reading this today, please continue to pray for the operation's success. If we get updates today, we will also post it here.

Thank you for all your help, concern and love. We've always updated Benjie of all the love that his friends extended to him whether financially or spiritually. Please, please help us pray.

6:25 pm

Benjie's out of the Operating Room but he needs to recover from it. Again, the operation is to find where the block in his intestine is. He'll stay in the ICU for two to three days. He's still asleep but his doctor/friend will stay with him to closely monitor him. Please contunue to pray for Benj.

Aug. 26, 2020 update

Hello everyone,

Benjie’s family would like to thank all who have helped them get through in these difficult times. They are grateful for all the help you have extended especially since the world is facing the pandemic as well. They are continuously asking for prayers and messages to Benj to lift his spirit up.

Benjie will be transferred to another hospital today. The main reason for the transfer is so that Benj will be looked after directly by doctors that the family knows. The new hospital is also better equipped to look after his needs.

He will be swabbed for COVID-19, the result of which will be known two days from now. Benj won’t have any family member with him until the results come out. Then he’ll have a major surgery once he’s cleared.

The surgery is to remove the blockage in his intestines. When successful, waste will go out of his colostomy bag giving him more comfort. Please continue to pray for the success of this procedure.
