Help Belinda further her studies in Teaching

This campaign is to help me further my studies in teaching so I may have a career that provides the opportunity to inspire and nurture future generations and which allows me to share my expertise and experiences with young learners. I’d like to travel to rural areas around the world and help widen the horizons of those that long for more in life and education is the barrier they need to cross.

My Story

Hi my name is Belinda and I have a burning desire to help people and travel the world. As a graphic designer I wasn’t satisfied and felt like I was drifting further away from what I really wanted. I found an opportunity to help people, travel and make enough money to pay off my college debt and that is through teaching English in foreign countries, giving people the opportunity to widen their horizons. However not being qualified is a huge disadvantage and I need to get qualified.

2 years ago I took the plunge, sold everything I owned in 2 weeks, car, furniture, personal items you name it and ventured out to Malaysia on my own to try make this dream a reality. My time there really tested me on every level and I was placed in a job as a primary teacher even though I had no experience with teaching at all, I was given no teaching resources and most of the students knew very little English and were of different ages. I gave it my all and learnt very quickly, my graphic design knowledge definitely helped me and I was able to create our own learning materials and spent my nights researching curriculum’s and what kids at this age need to be covering. Through it all I could see how I was making a difference in these children’s lives. They weren’t used to having a teacher like me, one that really cares about them. I felt I wasn’t only taking on the role as a teacher but also a parent.

Teaching is the most heartbreaking and rewarding career anyone can follow and I love it. I honestly feel that I made a difference in the paths I crossed and a difference was made in mine. I want to do so much more, this was only the beginning, I want to keep making a difference no matter how big or small.

Asking for Help

Unfortunately I don’t have the funds left for a PGCE Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Senior Phase and Further Education and Training)which I want to do through correspondence so I may work as an a teacher or assistant teacher at a local school, I’ve been applying for jobs everywhere I can. I hate asking people for money but this is so important to me and if I could receive any help at all I’d be so grateful and promise to make it worth every cent.
