Help Basia pay for college

My name is Basia, I’m from Warsaw, Poland. I love traveling, gaining new experiences, I strive to spread positive energy and I am always excited about new challenges.

For 12 years I was putting maximum effort into my education striving to study on one of the best universities in the World. I got into one of the best and most esteemed high schools in Poland, which later enabled me to start thinking about studying abroad. Since I have read about Universities in the United States I loved the idea of it- how I could get to know the new culture in a dynamic college environment, and most importantly receive one of the best, interdisciplinary education. My goal was Emerson College, a school right in the heart of Boston, offering one of the best Communications programs in the country.

I have worked my hardest, taking SAT and English proficiency tests multiple times, and spending over 6 months writing my college essays. I applied even though I knew my parents did not have enough money to cover my whole education. As an international student so I am not eligible for any kind of federal aid as well as any loans in the US which could help me cover some of the tuition (the same goes in Poland - loans for college are not really available). Most private scholarships are also confined to US residents.

And I finally did it. I got in. Into Emerson College. After being accepted I honestly never have I ever felt more like I made a good decision and that I have it all figured out. I am sure that a communications program is really where I belong and a public relations related career is the one that would make me the happiest. I believe Emerson College is a place ideal for a person who thrives in diversified, dynamic communities and believes in the power of communication, the power of story when it comes to making the world a better place. It is a place where I could really fit in and could give me not only an incredible college experience but also provide me with thorough education and prepare for the real world.

The biggest obstacle to be overcome by me now is financing my education. A sequence of events, consisting of the COVID-19 pandemic causing huge decreases of values in investment funds and unexpected change of one of my family’s properties’ zoning plan which suppressed the possibility of selling it (which was supposed to be the main source of money for the rest of my college tuition) made it really hard for my family to be able to cover the whole 4-year cost. My parents have some money set aside and I received a merit-based scholarship, but it is simply not enough. I want to have the security of being able to pay for all 4 years of education and be sure that I will not have to end my education untimely.

I have poured my heart into the whole process of getting into college, I overcome numerous obstacles and this is not the time to give up, I am so close now! This is why I am asking for help that will enable me to pay for college and receive the education and college experience I was dreaming of.
