On Tuesday April 16th 2019, we took Barney, our Boxer-Pitbull mix to the vet for his yearly vaccinations and check up. We had noticed a lump on his chest and asked the vet to take a look at it, just in case. Turns out that our 6-year-old baby has a Mast Cell Tumor, in other words: Cancer. We were shocked to hear the results:

Barney will have to go through surgery to remove the tumor. According to the vet, this would cost us up to $1400, including a biopsy, blood tests and X-rays. We do not have enough money to cover all the costs, so we are asking for help to raise the money and to save Barney's life. We already paid $300 to cover the test and cannot afford to pay the additional full amount of $1400 to cover the surgery.
Barney came to us 3 years ago from Sean Casey Animal Rescue (God bless them!), where he ended up after having been abandoned to a yard, tied up with a chain in the summer heat with no food or water. His ribs were clearly visible and he might have been used as a bait dog or for fights, as he has scars on his ears and on his body. We also found out he had been abused.
Today Barney is a happy dog, 72lbs of love. He enjoys walks, snacks and cuddles from anyone he meets. Barney is a lovebug, who loves deeply and wants to kiss everyone he meets. He often sleeps on top or in between his mama and daddy and purrs like a cat :) He absolutely loves soccer balls and fluffy toys, but they usually wont last more than 5 minutes in his "gentle" care. Anyone who meets Barney, will think he is still a puppy, because he is so full of energy.
About us:
We, Barney's mama and daddy are a young couple in their late 20's, living in New York City. We have been married for 3 years and Barney is our only child, but we wish to experience him having a human brother or sister in the upcoming years. Our current financial situation leaves us unable to afford this urgently needed surgery and this is why we are asking for help. We appreciate even the smallest donation towards our goal.
