We believe every kid should get the chance to learn to swim!

Last year, Oceanman Thailand took place in Klong Muang Beach, Krabi. Over 500 swimmers from all over the word participated and competed over various distances in this fun filled yet challenging event. Among the athlete field was a large number of children. Unfortunately, none of the local children, living at Klong Muang Beach were able to participate in this event due to financial restraints and the lack of swimming skills necessary.

Oceanman Krabi will return to Krabi this October and this time, we want to ensure that we give some of the kids from the local Klong Muang School the opportunity to take part and to complete the kids race. Over the next 6 months, we will train 20 students from Klong Muang School, several hours a week to become confident and competent open water swimmers. The ultimate goal: Participate and complete the Oceanman 1km Kids Race.

Here is what we need your support for:

For each of the girls 18 students, we need THB 2,500 for providing swimming googles, caps, swim shorts/suites and the admission fee for Oceanman Krabi 2020. Dusit Thani Krabi Beach Resort will, for free, provide the required facilities (e.g pools), swimming instructors and is also looking after all aspects, including this fundraiser, of this project.

Donate THB 2,500 to cover all expenses for one student or any other amount. Any amount you choose to give will be greatly appreciated.

Why swimming?

Drowning is still one of the most common causes of accidental deaths among children, so being able to swim is an essential life-saving skill. Furthermore, swimming provides challenges and a sense of accomplishment with each little task achieved, which helps children to become more self-confident and believe in their abilities. In addition to learning to swim, they’ll build the confidence that comes with the realization that they can do anything they put their minds to.

This project is not affiliated, supported or endorsed by Oceanman and Oceanman Krabi and Dusit Thani Krabi Beach Resort and its owners and organizers. This is a fundraiser organised independently by some employees of Dusit Thani Krabi Beach Resort to give back to the local community.
