Campaign Story
Hi guys, my name is Nico Lombard. I'm trying to get some much needed help for an amazing, lovable and loyal rescue dog.
This gentle giant came to our front door a few months ago, soaking wet from the rain, abandoned by our neighbours who left him to wander the streets. Over the years he was often locked out of his yard and always came to our house looking for shelter, but this time our whole family was shocked at how thin and malnourished he had become.
I offered to help the owner with dog food, but he immediately became hostile and refused to talk to me. After this we decided that this sweet dog would never go back to the people who treated him this way, and so with the help of the SPCA, I legally dopted him.
Back home I called him Apollo. He got a good bath and brush, the best quality food we could afford and a warm and comfortable place to sleep. He immediately became a part of the family and we all love him to bits. He is constantly showered with affection and love and I can tell that he feels much safer and happier now. He has the sweetest personality and anyone who meets him immediately falls in love.
It's not always easy to come up with funds to buy Apollo's food (due to his size he eats a lot), but I couldn’t bare to walk away from him, so I always make a plan. Apollo’s condition has improved immensely since he started living with us, however he has some medical issues that will require more money than I can come up with.
He has a tumour/growth in one eye that is causing constant irritation. His teeth are in bad shape and are starting to fall out. He suffers from joint and hip pain, which is common in breeds his size. I can tell he is in constant pain.
The vet will need to do some blood work first, anesthesia and possibly x-rays for his joint problems. I would be so grateful for any help. I will be 100% transparent about how all funds are spent.
I’m committed to making sure that Apollo’s time on earth is as amazing as it can be.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story.
