Ann, together with her sister Aod, run a very special Thai restaurant called Srifaa’s which is located near Chiang Mai University in Chiang Mai, Thailand; the big city in the North. With Ann's experience at restaurants in America and Aod's amazing cooking skills, they decided to open Srifaa’s after Ann returned from abroad, about 7 years ago. Not long after that, Srifaa’s had become famous among tourists and a popular place to eat for expats and locals living in the area.
Unfortunately, the reason Ann had to return from the US was because she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2012, shortly after her diagnosis, she flew back to Thailand to start her cancer treatment. A year later, after surgery and chemotherapy, Ann started to recover and that was when she decided to set up the restaurant with her sister Aod.
After several years running the restaurant and building community around their delicious food and positive environment, things started to take a bad turn for them. Ann's cancer symptoms have been getting progressively worse and the doctors have determined that the breast cancer is spreading. She's now in severe pain most of the time and unable to help Aod with the restaurant.
Ann has been getting treatment for her cancer for nearly 10 years and their family has spent all their savings on her treatment; over a million baht so far after several surgeries, rounds of chemotherapy and all the necessary medication. The family’s main source of income is from the restaurant, which Aod is now running on her own, as Ann is being treated for her pain and cancer symptoms at home under their parents’ care.
Due to the Coronavirus, the restaurant income has decreased dramatically and they have been struggling to keep up with their bills and Ann's medical expenses. Running the restaurant alone has also taken a toll on Aod, who has two daughters and her parents to support, and the whole family is uncertain how they will survive.
This page was created to help them get the funds to cover Ann’s medical expenses, which include chemotherapy and the medication that helps relieve Ann’s constant pain. They are hoping to help Ann get recovered in Maharaj Hospital, in Chiang Mai. The longer they wait, the less time Ann has, so your help could have a life changing effect for Ann and her family. No amount is too small. Even as little as 150THB = ($5) would go a long way towards helping support Ann and her family.
