Campaign Story
Last year Angel developed hypothyroidism, and after months of vet visits and playing with medications, it seemed like she was finally stable. In January though, Angel suddenly started vomiting and a growth appeared on her neck, right where her thyroids are. After an extensive vet visit, it was discovered she has such a rare type of thyroid cyst that the vet had to do their own research on it and call specialists before giving Mama a call. The cyst was drained and a sample sent to specialists, and within a week it filled back up again. She’s now on 3 medications daily and it’s a daily worry to make sure the cyst doesn’t start closing her air ways or hinder her eating/drinking. It looks like Angel will most likely need radiotherapy to remove the cyst, as surgery for this type of cyst has proved deadly in other cats.
So far, without even starting the radiotherapy, Angel’s vet bill is already at $360. On top of that, her Mama is taking care of a colony of cats who are getting fixed next month, which will total about $80/cat for surgery and all their vaccines AND Mother Nature decided to drop a tree on her car during an ice storm, shattering her entire windshield.
Every little bit helps, and if by some miracle more than enough is raised, the extra funds will be donated to Angel’s vet, the Richmond SPCA’s Susan Markel hospital, to help them continue their efforts to provide low cost vet care to the area
