We all have faced it but few have gone the length....

The most disturbing of the human emotions that drowns down hope and makes you feel insignificant is the sense of helplessness. In these moments of helplessness...there comes a time when a loud cry calls from within to stand up and fight for what you believe in despite all odds....this my friends is the call of courage ...the call of your last iota of will power ...to do the right thing...this is what defines ....Who you really are...

Ground Zero

In a densely populated developing country like India, where the growth and development has not trickled down to the welfare of animals lives a woman who obsesses this courage to fight for a cause she believes in. Simmy Malhotra has been single handedly caring for the debilitated and abandoned strays dogs in her house that doubles up as the only place 40 of her canine companions can call a HOME. Simmy’s efforts were recognized in 2013 when she was awarded the prestigious Godfrey Phillips National Award for Bravery for her relentless work in Animal Welfare.

Simmy, a single Mother has devoted her entire life to the care of the stray dogs of India. She has established “The Help and Heal Animal Trust" that is dedicated to rehabilitate dogs that are sick or injured or have been abandoned because of their medical condition. Simmy has repeatedly stepped in and whisked away countless of such helpless dogs that were considered hopeless and slated for euthanasia. These dogs blossoms in Simmy’s care where they are given a chance to live with dignity and in worst case scenarios the dignity of dying in her loving arms.

When you walk into her house making your way through the exuberance and barrage of canine inquiry... be ready to meet life itself ...beaming with joy are faces of old, blind and handicapped dogs greeting you with happy wagging tails. Smiling with dark eyes that are feeling the pinch of putting up a brave front, Simmy’s tone dips and her voice chokes but she is quick to recover as she narrates her extraordinary journey over the years of her efforts of rescue and rehabilitation of each of her dogs. Her house is packed and every possible space claimed by a dog with a name and a rescue story that will melt your heart.  Alone in her endeavors, Simmy had to give up her job to be able to devote more time and attention to her special needs dogs that needed her constant attention and intensive care.

Way Ahead

Simmy have decided to step up her effort and reach so that she could open up a true no kill shelter for dogs with disabilities. The dogs that are blind, or with missing limps or broken spines, the ones who cannot survive on their own on the brutal streets will get a chance to live the rest of their lives in dignity and love.

Simmy has now leased a farm house to give ample space and a better life to 40 of her rescued dogs; as well as continue to rescue and rehabilitate injured, abandoned dogs and orphaned pups. This is not an easy task and requires funds to set up a place that will meet the requirements of the dogs with disabilities. This is where we need you to step in and help Simmy’s cause to give a new life to these helpless animals who count on YOUR support for their survival.

A cause to "HELP & HEAL  ANIMALS " that the vast majority sees fit to be put down.
